`Typ

|8 2 Diabetes Mellitus

  • Helps lower blood glucose (A1C) in adults when combined with diet and exercise.

  • Promotes weight loss and modest reduction in blood pressure.

2. Heart Failure

  • Reduces the risk of hospitalization and cardiovascular death in adults with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) and preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), regardless of diabetes status.

3. Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)

  • Slows progression of kidney damage and reduces risk of kidney failure in adults with CKD, even if they do not have diabetes.

How its Works

Farxiga blocks the SGLT2 protein in the kidneys, which is responsible for reabsorbing glucose back into the bloodstream. By inhibiting SGLT2:

  • Excess glucose is excreted through urine

  • Blood sugar levels decrease

  • Cardiovascular and renal protection mechanisms are activated

This multi-targeted effect makes Farxiga valuable beyond just glucose control.
